When FileVault 2 is enabled, a Recovery Key is provided. This Recovery Key can be used to reset a user's password. If Fleetsmith encrypted a device, a Recovery Key will be available in the Fleetsmith Admin Console on the device's page.
To reset a device's password using a Recovery Key:
- Click the arrow next to the prompt to reset the password using a Recovery Key. The password field should change to a Recovery Key field.
- Enter the Recovery Key. Ensure all characters are uppercase and hyphens are included. If you're not sure where to find the device's Recovery Key, see How do I view a device's Recovery Key in Fleetsmith?
- Follow the onscreen instructions to create a new password. Click Reset Password when done.
