A device will only be DEP eligible within Fleetsmith if all of the following conditions are true:
- Your company has completed the setup process for MDM within Fleetsmith.
- Your company has completed enrollment with Apple for the Device Enrollment Program. This involves several steps, including creating a new (separate) Apple ID and having a Dun & Bradstreet number. Visit the Apple DEP page to begin the enrollment process.
- The specific device in question has been assigned to Fleetsmith within the Apple DEP web portal.
If any of the above steps have not been completed, the device will not show up as DEP eligible within Fleetsmith. Full Management capabilities can still be achieved by ensuring MDM setup has been completed within Fleetsmith, and then going through the enrollment (or re-enrollment) process.
Why does my DEP status say Unknown?
Fleetsmith is currently unable to determine the DEP status of iOS and tvOS devices that have been enrolled via Configurator. When devices are prepared via Configurator, the devices receive DEP profiles that are issued by Configurator, not Fleetsmith. While Fleetsmith keeps an inventory of all devices assigned to the Fleetsmith MDM in Apple Business Manager, Fleetsmith currently cannot see the devices that are assigned via Configurator.
